Natural Sleep Aid: Prima CBD Giveaway!

As I shared recently, night sweats wreak havoc with sleep. Because they wake you up. Two, three, four times a night. It’s like having a newborn all over again, but the baby is your own damn self. And once you wake up sweaty, it’s really hard to get back to sleep again. I’ve tried sheep. I’ve counted backward. I’ve experimented natural sleep aids like melatonin, which seem to wear off around 2 a.m. and can leave me with a headache. I’ve tried the mantra I was given by my yoga teacher: inhale on “so” exhale on “hum,” which roughly translates to “I am the universe and the universe is me.” (But also reminds me of Winnie the Pooh, strangely?)
Sometimes these things work, and sometimes they don’t — and those times are hell.
So when Prima invited me to become an affiliate* and offered to send me a bottle of their Sleep Tight CBD natural sleep aid, I was intrigued. Want to learn more, score a 15% discount on everything prima — and, possibly, win some Sleep Tight (plus their cult-favorite Bath Gem) for yourself? Read on!
ALL ABOUT THE CBD
Since laws regulating cannabis and hemp cultivation have relaxed in the United States, the market for products that contain CBD has exploded. CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol, which is derived from hemp (not marijuana) and does not get you high. According to Harvard, it has successfully been used to treat everything from chronic pain to — you guessed it! — insomnia.
PRIMA NATURAL SLEEP AID FOR THE WIN
I tried a few CBD creams for muscle aches when I overdid it at yoga, but never found anything that really made a difference. But I really trust Prima: The company was co-founded by Christopher Gavigan, with whom I worked at Healthy Child Healthy World before he went on to found the Honest Company. And as a certified B Corp I know that they will walk the talk when it comes to sustainable production. So I figured I would give Sleep Tight natural sleep aid a try.
WHAT’S INSIDE
A serving of two Sleep Tight CBD natural sleep aid softgels contains 20 milligrams of CBD, which is derived from hemp (not cannabis, although the two are related) along with herbal extracts of passion flower, chamomile, and hops flower, among others. I have to admit, the strong scent put me off, at first. But this is because Prima doesn’t use any chemical masking agents or perfumes — what you smell is what you get: pure, natural botanicals.

DOSED
The recommended serving size of Sleep Tight CBD natural sleep aid is proactive: Two softgels at bedtime. And this totally worked! I had a great sleep — deep, restful, and dreamy.
And better yet: If I didn’t take Sleep Tight CBD natural sleep aid and woke up in the middle of the night — it’s usually between 1 and 4 a.m. that I end up staring at the ceiling (see: melatonin) — I could take one softgel, and still wake up and function like a normal human. Unlike what happened when I tried Ambien.
This means I can use Sleep Tight CBD natural sleep aid when I need it, rather than preventatively (although you can take it every night, as CBD is not addictive).

It depends, sometimes I can’t fall asleep at all and other times it’s seamless.

I have to have the room really cold and turn off all lights and tv!
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes, the cold does help for sure!

Clean, crisp, cool sheets are a must! Yes, I am a sheet snob lol. I use a drop of lavender oil on my pillow, it helps me relax and can even help with my chronic pain. These sound really great, and I’m all for a gel cap form. Sometimes, especially if I’m nauseated, I just can’t stomach the tinctures. Thanks for the review and giveaway!!
Rachel Sarnoff
OH yes, this! What a great recommendation. I love lavender anything!

At this point, I will (almost) try anything. I wake up too early most mornings and can’t get back to sleep. I love that I could take it in the middle of the night and not feel like a groggy zombie the next day. BTW, I have experienced headaches with melatonin too.
Rachel Sarnoff
Oh, I’m so sorry — that sucks! Yes, re the melatonin headaches, I wonder how many people experience those? Also it used to be you could buy .5 mg of melatonin but now the dosage is so high, even when I cut them into tiny pieces I still think it’s too much. Good luck!

I use Melatonin, but it doesn’t always work.
Rachel Sarnoff
I feel you, sister! Thanks for entering 🙂

Melatonin is not recommended for extended use, so this might be my new go-to.
I can’t afford to not get a decent night of sleep when I’m trying to juggle WFH + homeschooling a kindergartener (thanks Covid!). I need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning!
Rachel Sarnoff
I totally feel for you Leslie! I have a teenager to get up, but at least she can make her own breakfast 🙂 Good luck!

I fall asleep no problem but sometimes wake around 3 and stay awake for awhile. Also wake up anxious.
Rachel Sarnoff
OH that was exactly my problem! Prima was a game changer for me. I hope this works for you and good luck with the giveaway!

If I am not able to sleep, my doctor says to take melatonin.

This sounds so relaxing! Normally I use melatonin chews but this sounds more natural.

Does it ever give you a headache in the morning? Wondering if that’s just me… Thanks for commenting. Good luck!
