Mommy Greenest Approved: Saison Beauty Natural Skincare
Remember when you were in high school and your grandma’s friend was “having her colors done” and you learned you were a Spring? Okay, maybe that’s just me. But I was fascinated by that cool little color wheel and how it finally made sense that I still loved pink even though I was 16. That’s kind of how I felt when I discovered Saison Beauty, which takes the seasonal concept and applies it to natural skincare. Genius!
Saison Beauty natural skincare products are hand made for each season and skin type to perfect your skin through the changing months. Because we all know that skin gets oilier in summer and drier in winter, yet we keep on using the same damn products every day. Right? It just makes sense to switch it up: Saison Beauty natural skincare products are specially formulated for each season and skin type to perfect your skin throughout the changing months.
Each Saison Beauty natural skincare product starts with the highest-quality organic plant extracts, hand made fresh to order in small batches. Then they add ingredients from plants and produce that are in season during that time of the year.
So if you have normal skin, you’re a Spring—you need hydration from fresh, natural ingredients like avocado, as well as antioxidant-rich goodies like green tea and rose geranium.
But if you’re a Spring and it’s October, when your skin begins to produce less oil and starts to recover from summer sun damage, you’ll want to shift your regimen. That’s when you can combat fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation with Saison Beauty natural skincare Autumn Moisturizer, which adds collagen-stimulating L-Ascorbic Acid to the mix.
Similarly, if you’re shopping by skin type—Summer is oily, Autumn is dry and Winter is mature—you can adjust your product choices as the seasons change.
And finally, there’s a Saison Beauty natural skincare Year-Around Hydrating Hand Lotion and Face Mask designed for annual use.
Regardless of your skin types or the season, all Saison Beauty natural skincare products are based on a recommended regimen of cleansing oil, cleansing grains, lotion spray and moisturizer. This may seem like a lot of hydration to some, but the delicate formulations never weigh down the skin. For body, there are seasonally-oriented body washes, oils and lotions.
Of course, Saison Beauty natural skincare products eschew petrochemicals, parabens, silicones, phthalates, sulfactes, glycols, PEGs, DEA, MEA, TEA, triclosan or synthetic fragrances, colors or dyes—basically anything on my list of red flag ingredients. All of the products are PETA and Leaping Bunny certified, and most are vegan–except for the cleansing grains and face mask, which contain organic milk and honey.
Want to try? Enter to win one of THREE $176 Saison Beauty natural skincare Autumn Face Collection sets that we’re giving away. Because gorgeous skin is always in season.

I have noticed a lot of changes but I think most of it is due to aging unfortunately.
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes, I hear you on that one!!! Thanks for sharing Sandra 🙂

My skin is dry on winter time!

My skin doesn’t change much, probably because I live in S. CA and we don’t have seasons the way most of the country does. My face only gets dry if I happen to spend a large amount of time outside when it’s cold (relatively speaking, of course), particularly at night. But a heavier moisturizer rather than a gel usually does the trick.
Maryna
Ineed good moisturizer!!!

I suppose my skin changes with the seasons by getting some colour on it in the summer when exposed to sunshine and it goes really pale in the winter when there isn’t enough sun to give it any colour. The winter is so harsh and the summer is so hot and humid. It works harder and harder as I grow older so the Saison Beauty Natural Skin Care line will be an excellent product to have since I have never tried it before and Autumn is now upon us.

I live in an area where the weather is moderate, so skin changes are slight from season to season. As to those old, “color seasons”, I never subscribed to them. I’m a color expert who believes everyone is unique and can’t be pigeonholed. I have 100 color cards (brights, darks and pastels) that I use to find people’s best colors and give them a chart and list. It takes about an hour. There is no substitute for individual attention, but if you are the DIY type, my Custom Wardrobe book will walk you through the process. See my website.

I see my skin becoming more dry in the winter. I try not to shower in very hot water and to use my coconut oil scrub to both moisturize and remove the dead skin (I use this from head to toe.) Then I normally use a liquid makeup or CC Cream makeup in the coldest months to help hydrate, otherwise I only use mineral makeup like Jane Iredale
Rachel Sarnoff
Great regimen!
Stacy
I live in Los Angeles where we don’t have seasons so I have to admit to not making any large changes over the course of a year.
Rachel Sarnoff
I live in LA, too! I feel like there is a shift–subtle, maybe–from the humidity of summer to the dry winds of fall and (sometimes) winter. Although I will say it hasn’t changed yet!
Neha Kaul
I use a richer, more hydrating moisturiser during the winter. I also tend to use a serum a lot more regularly during the winter.
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes, I agree. I find that my regimen is more stripped down in summer, but I’ll add more components as it gets cooler.
Jia Hui
Of course in warm weather, like spring and summer I feel the sweat on my face, and when a pimple shows up, it’s more gross to feel!

Elaine R
My skin does get drier in the winter months particularly in the t-zone area of my face. I use plenty of good facial moisturizers to help with the dryness.
Jessica
My skin is fair and sensitive. My skin glows in the summer and loves the humidity. I usually only need a light moisturizer. With fall coming, I’m adding in a serum, then mixing a few drops of facial oil with my moisturizer. When winter hits, I usually use a strong moisturizing serum, and if my skin is very dry, I will just use a facial oil. They are great year round, but esp during dry and/cold months!
Rachel Sarnoff
You are already shifting with the seasons! Good work 🙂
lori byrd
I have vitiligo and very sensitive skin. I need super good stuff in the winter and my hands still crack and bleed. I have yet to find something that will prevent this. I hope this will be it.
Rachel Sarnoff
Have you tried pure argan oil? I wonder if that could help.
Rebecca M
I take hot baths with coconut or sesame oil in them, and do deep moisturizing face masks.
latanya
I need a heavier moisturizer in the winter vs. summer.
Lisa Areford
Not only does my skin change with the seasons but now as I am aging it is taking some strange turns! I could really use help with this. And I love the fact that these products do not have any crazy ingredients!
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes, I agree! Just when you think you’ve got this skincare thing down, your skin goes and changes on you 🙂
Michelle H.
I tend to need more intense moisturizing during the colder months. I will use moisturizing oils in addition to my other skincare products.

I think most of us forget that it’s not just about knowing what type of skin you have, but also understanding those pesky little shifts our skin makes when the weather changes. 🙂
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes! Absolutely! I always have this ONE day at the beginning of fall when I put on my makeup and look TOTALLY wrong. I can’t predict it, it’s just a shift from summer that needs to happen, stat!
cheryl
heavier night cream in the winter
Rachel Sarnoff
Absolutely!
Deborah Zarett
I think I’m a summer even well past youth …
Rachel Sarnoff
Yes, that’s what I love about this system, it’s so customizable!

In winter, I typically need to exfoliate and wear moisturizer more. Other than that, I’m just acne prone all year long. I try to evaluate what my skin needs daily.
Rachel Sarnoff
Good call! It’s great to have options so you can shift on a micro level as well.
Holly Petrie
I usually have to add more moisture in the winter while preventing shine in the summer.
Rachel Sarnoff
Me, too. Although I shine all year round 🙂
Lindsey
Not really. It’s combination all the time!
Rachel Sarnoff
Yup! Just different combinations, right?
Laura Royal
I use a richer moisturizer during the winter months.
Lucy Rand
My skincare needs slightly Because I live in such a dry environment (desert), I need a bit more moisture, particularly exposed areas (like my hands and face). I generally make small changes, like moisturizing before my skin is completely dry. I also like to use extra lotion such as Aveeno and Keri
Rachel Sarnoff
I always feel the dryness when I visit my family in New Mexico. Good idea to moisturize damp–have you tried an oil?
Marlene V. (Enelram)
In winter my skin becomes drier – I often need to use more moisturizer and lip balm.

Luckily my skin stays the same year round unless I travel. Something about the weather in LA that keeps its looking it best. If I travel I usually have to deal with dryness and acne so extra moisturizers and witch hazel usually do the trick!
Ryan
my wife would like them
Debi W
I just usually use more moisturizer in the winter.
