Introducing InspirApril Daily Affirmations
A few weeks ago, I read this quote to a dear friend of mine who lives 2,000 miles away. It touched us so deeply, we both began to cry. In that moment, I realized how inspiration can connect all of us. Fracking in national parks, the GMO labeling fight, flame retardants in furniture–sometimes I feel like all I’m doing is reporting on bad news. But this month I’m taking a break every day to share a few words that inspire me. I’m calling this initiative “InspirApril.” If today’s daily affirmation speaks to you, please take a minute to share with your online community, and tell me why in comments below. That’s a great place to share your own favorite daily affirmations, too!

I a m 80 years young and live in the country. I recently was at a restaurant eating alone. I noticed a woman sitting across the room, alone, who was very obese. Our eyes caught each other and I gave her a big smile, which she returned. She finished her meal and walked by me to pay her bill and touched my shoulder as she passed. I smiled at her as she went by. When it came my time to pay my bill I was told the my dinner was paid for. It seemed the same lady had given me a gift. No one knew who she was. As I pondered on what had happened I wondered if it was the exchange of smiles. I have often heard that people will sometimes not look at an obese person or give them judgmental looks. This has inspired me to look at every person (no matter their appearance) as a part of God and acknowledge their person with a sincere smile. I need not be so into-myself that I miss the opportunity to show love to a stranger. I am inspired to Pay-it-forward many times in the image of that person.
