House Votes Against 90% of U.S. to Pass DARK Act: Take Steps to #StoptheDARKAct
This week, the DARK Act passed the House of Representatives, despite the fact that 9 of 10 Americans support GMO labeling. Now it’s up to the Senate to block it, so that states’ rights to label can stand. Read more for what you can do today to help #StoptheDARKAct.
Meanwhile, my grandfather ran a bean elevator. I wonder what he would think about Monsanto suing farmers? This video, posted on Facebook by Neil Young, just makes me so sad.
Despite the hundreds of millions of dollars Monsanto spent lobbying Congress to pass the DARK Act, the fight isn’t over. Here’s how you can help:
1. Click here to find out who represents you in the House.
Remember when we found out that it takes just 10 comments or tweets to get the attention of lawmakers on Capitol Hill? We’re going to put that to the test.
2. Click here to find out who voted in favor of the DARK Act.
3. Search Twitter to find his or her handle.
4. If your rep voted yes, tweet this:
Shame on you [INSERT REPRESENTATIVE’S TWITTER HANDLE HERE] 4 voting in favor of #Monsanto & against Americans. You just lost my vote. #StoptheDARKAct
5. If your rep voted no, tweet this:
Thank you [INSERT REPRESENTATIVE’S TWITTER HANDLE HERE] 4 voting against #Monsanto & in favor of Americans. You have my vote! #StoptheDARKAct
6. If your rep abstained, tweet this:
Shame on you [INSERT REPRESENTATIVE’S TWITTER HANDLE HERE] 4 not voting against #Monsanto & in favor of Americans. Earn my vote! #StoptheDARKAct

I am truly upset at the ignorance of these people when it comes to our food supply. Sad that our representatives insist on voting wherever the money comes from.

I hear you. So sad. I feel like the only thing to do is buy GMO-free and certified organic as much as possible, and so shift the market away from genetically modified foods. If we all did that, eventually they would HAVE to stop growing them, right?

All of Oklahoma’s representatives voted yes. I don’t get the republican support, this is anti-state rights.

Agreed. It just doesn’t make sense!

Shame on Monsanto! Great idea to create easy Tweets for us to use. We’ve got to stop this!
