Celebs Push for GMO Labeling (Video)

The drumbeat on GMO labeling just keeps getting louder. Recently, the Environmental Media Association debuted this #ConcealOrReveal PSA on the “Today Show,” featuring Constance Zimmer, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jillian Michaels, Jordana Brewster, Sara Gilbert and Sarah Michelle Gellar all urging brands to support GMO labeling. Unfortunately, the video misses a most important takeaway: Click here to add your name to a petition supporting mandatory GMO labeling laws.

That same week, Gwyneth Paltrow and her mother Blythe Danner testified on Capitol Hill against the misleadingly titled “Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act,” known among activists as the “DARK (Deny Americans Right to Know)” because it would prevent states from mandating GMO labeling. Despite grass-roots campaigning, the bill passed the House of Representatives in July.

We need all the drums we can get. We’re only halfway through 2015, and already major brands are throwing down to block GMO labeling laws. Coca-Cola has spent more than $5 million, Pepsi more than $3 million, and Kellogg and General Mills more than $1 million each.

Play on.
